metal rod | 12 x 36” | 2024

Part of the “Sacred Forms” series, this sculpture embodies a serene moment of connection between the human form and nature. Depicting a reclining figure with long flowing hair, one hand gently cups the face, evoking a sense of introspection and peace. The pose is inspired by a photograph of my friend Paulette, lying in the grass under the sun by the bayou, capturing a quiet moment of grace and harmony. Through this piece, I explore the beauty of vulnerability and the grounding effect of nature, celebrating the shared bond between ourselves and the earth around us. The simple yet fluid lines of the metal rods reflect the softness and strength of the feminine experience, offering a timeless narrative of intimacy and connection.
